5 SAFETY TOOLS
YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT

1. SMOKE DETECTORS:  Install smoke detectors on every floor; outside of every room, and test them regularly.

2. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS:  Keep them strategically located throughout the workplace and always be sure they are unobstructed. Most fire extinguishers are combination Class ABC types. Class A puts out fires of ordinary combustibles. Class B is used on fires involving flammable liquids such as oil. Class C is used on electrical fires.

3. CARBON MINOXIDE DETECTORS:  Carbon Monoxide is odorless and colorless, and it can be fatal if undetected. Place detectors in hallways or inside rooms frequently occupied by employees or visitors.

4. GROUND FAULT INTERRUPTERS (GFCI’S):  Use GFCI’s throughout the office or other work areas, especially where electrical equipment if frequently used and where there is a source for water or moisture nearby.  GFCI’s protect against electrical shock in the event of coming in contact with a live wire.

5. FIRST AID / EMERGENCY KITS:  Store clearly marked first aid kits containing antibiotic ointment, bandages, adhesive tape, cold packs, antibacterial hand cleaner, scissors, tweezers, eyewash, and a flashlight in easily accessible locations, and be sure to train employees on where they are located.
